Final piece:

Finally im done(hope so) and it works(hope so).
As i said earlier my main focus was temperatures and the relationship between them.
My final piece represents that relationship and something i v noticed is that it looks as a constant battle between temperatures.Iv used sensors for temperature outside of the building ,2 in lecture theatres and a heat flow sensor.Colour of the visualisation is picked according to the temperature values and ranges between light blue(very cold) to red(very hot).

Introduction:
In this module through 3 workshops we got introduced to the ideas of maping a space, notating a space, hetzian space ,GPS track drawing , "qic", Video streaming , Arch-os and the Green screen.Bellow i am showing all the material i gathered through all these workshops that have helped me think in a more abstract way and to notate different types of elements, stuff, objects and ideas through an abstractive thinking.

Proposal:
After experimenting with these concepts i got really interested in the concept of combining the use of the Arch-os and the Green screen in order to produce a form of art that negotiates and notates the relationship between temperatures in the building getting affected by the co2 level which means that more people are in the building and the power used by the building. It will work using a Flash data parser that captures the live data stream from the Arch-os and according to the temperatures that i am focusing on and the co2 sensors and maybe the power used by the building and how that affects the temperature of the building, it will visualise that relationship through different types of visualisations.Bellow im showing some pics that inspired me and 2 videos i have created together with data examples from the Arch-os live data stream.More video visualisations are currently under production.

Workshop 3 Video stream ,Arch-os,"qic" and Green screen:

In this workshop i got introduced to the concepts of Video streaming ,"qik", The Arch-os and the

Green screen.

Video stream:
In this workshop mike was trying to stream a live video of him being him(lol) but it didnt work really because of the university firewal and security, but in the ned mike managed to stream a few seconds of video before it got cut off.
video streamvideo stream

"qik":
Here we got introduced to the concept of "qik",an online video streaming website where users can download software onto their phones and prety much stream video from their phones up onto the web.AMAZING!
qik

Arch-os:
In this workshop we got introduced to the idea of a "clever" building which is operated by a super computer that receives data from all the sensors of the building. This data is not only used to operate all the key equipment but also to do some really creative things like the 3D sound system in the building that plays sounds according to different feeds or the motion tracking across the buildings ground floor.
Arch_osArch-os
Green screen:
In this workshop we were introduced to the Green Screen,a huge LED light screen on the front of Portland Square. This instalation works together with the Arch-os and normally shows animations depending on data feedbacks from the buildings sensors or it can also run applications like NOOGY, a clever TAMAGOTSI inspired character that can have conversations with people or it has mood swings depending on the sensors of the building, for example it would get sad and feel lonelyif the cams didnt notice any movement or he would feel cold if the temperatures were low.

Workshop 2 Hertzian space and GPS Track Drawing :

Gps Tracking and Drawing:

Inspirations i gathered from the net showing a satelite orbit,a 3D GPS track drawing and e negative view of a GPS track drawing:
gps tracking map gps tracking mapgps tracking map
Here we focused on the use of GPS to create art or to simply show the effect someones movement in a certain area using a GPS tracking would affect an image of that wider space. In the first pic u can see the path i took in this area, which was a certain part of the university campus, while being tracked by a satelite.I was trying to draw a fox although it was hard to accomplish because of the flow of people and vehicles.
gps tracking map art
And then i thought of how i could connect something that is part of a large scale area with something alive and ratherly small. So i adde my GPS track drawing onto a photo of a fox.
gps tracking map art
While i was doing my GPS drawing i strangely noticed a pattern in the flow of people on the campus.Inoticed that people prefered not to walk on the road, and there is 1 particular point of interest.its the spot on the map where the GPS foxe's mouth is.So When i got back i used my GPS drawing with the map and adde d some lines to it that show my observation about the flow of people.Bellow is the picture:
gps tracking map art
And this is a video i created using footage from google earth to show what i felt like while i was doing my GPS drawing.I couldnt help but to emphasize on the fact that we are always being watched by someone........

Hertzian space:

Inspirations that occured from looking at different types of art created with the use of circular shapes,so i thought i could notate the levels of a wifi signal in a specific area using circular shapes.
abstract round shape art abstract round shape artabstract round shape art
Here i monitored the wifi signals in a room on the ground floor of Babbage. What i noticed was that the signal was really good near the doors of the space while there was hardly any signal in the main walkway which suprised me considering the building has wifi.Bellow i designed a 3D model of the space i was monitoring and used the green circles to show the wifi signal.

And bellow is the space i designed which is a replica of a part of the ground floor in Babbage without the wifi signal level notation.

Workshop 1 Picnic:

Inspirations:
Mapa Mundi were the first known type of maps including different means of notation like text and basic sketches to notate areas of significant importance at the time they were made for example rivers, forests and buildings.Bellow are some images of Mapa Mundi's.
Mapa Mundi'sMapa Mundi'sMapa Mundi's
Other examples of notations i found on the net that inspired me:
abstract notationsabstract notationsabstract notations
At the beggining of this module we went on a picnic and we were asked to take a series of photos and create a montaz with them.bellow is the montage and the montaz with all the notations:
We then had to pick out key elements of the picnic experience and focus on them and try to map them.I chose sound, frequency of body parts movement and speed of occuring actions .
Individual notations which are frequency of body parts movement, sound, speed of occuring actions and numbers:

Notation Map:

I also seperated the way i used to map each element in the montaz.Below are the maps

Finally we had to pick a body part and make a cast of it and then try to incorporate it onto the other members of the group.I chose the end of my arm and the beggining of my hand.Bellow are the photos.

And the montaz with the body part cast in it:
